CONSULTATIONS

Your journey

IN-HOUSE CONSULTATIONS

The Initial Consultation is approximately 60 minutes in duration. The time is used to take a comprehensive history. The following is performed during your initial assessment: a body composition analysis, an analysis of recent biochemical or blood results, a diet/nutrition history to explore your daily or weekly food intake, and a clinical examination to identify signs related to nutrition abnormalities. Here, we outline your key areas of dysfunction, and begin to layout our therapeutic action plan!

If required, blood or other laboratory tests may be ordered to assist in uncovering physiologic patterns linked to clinical imbalances.

Time between appointments differ according to your needs and laboratory tests ordered.

The Follow-Up Consultation will differ for each individual. The individualised treatment plan is adjusted according to the outcomes of the initial assessment, your body's response to interventions, your goals, and your readiness for change. Follow-up sessions are 45 minutes in duration.

ONLINE CONSULTATIONS

Online Consultations are conducted similarly to in-house consultations; however, a body composition assessment is not able to be performed. Receive evidence-based, compassionate care and tailored nutritional plans from the comfort of your home.

EDUCATIONAL SESSIONS

Nutrition is a science, meaning that it needs to be translated by a well-trained mind to ensure public understanding. Evidence-based, informative and engaging sessions for events and wellness days are on offer.

HOW MUCH DOES A CONSULT COST?

Please note that all my prices are based on medical aid rates. An initial consult costs R 730 (approx. $ 48), and follow-up session costs R 595 (approx. $ 40), and a genetic feedback session costs R 1 070 (approx. $ 70).

HOW DO I PAY FOR MY CONSULTS?

All practices are cash-based, meaning that you are required to pay upfront on the day of your consult. For those seeing me online, you will be sent a QR code in order to make an EFT payment.

ARE TESTS INCLUDED IN THE CONSULTATION COSTS?

No, laboratory testing will be charged as an additional expense.

HOW MANY SESSIONS DO I NEED WITH YOU?

Generally, 4 to 6 sessions for most individuals, usually 2-4 weeks apart. However, this is based on the extent your health concerns and response to intervention plans.

DO I NEED TO COMPLETE ANY FORMS PRIOR TO MY FIRST CONSULT?

Yes, you will be sent a form via email. I ask all patients to send back to me 24-hours prior to the appointment.

WHATS IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A DIETITIAN AND NUTRITIONIST?

In South Africa, a dietitian is one who has completed a Bachelor of Sciences in Human Nutrition at medical school (and additional training in nutrition), and is registered with health care professional boards. Whereas, the term 'nutritionist' may encompass individuals with a broad range of credentials and training in nutrition.
